Director of Coaching
Erin's Isle GAA Club is currently recruiting a Director of Coaching & Player Development. This person will foster a culture of excellence and development within the club, planning coach education and training programs and ensuring coaches & mentors receive consistent and high-quality guidance and support. Erin's Isle GAA Club has been an active sporting, social and cultural organisation at the heart of our community in Finglas since 1917 and we believe that a Director of Coaching will be an important resource to support the long-term success and growth of our club.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor age specific club coaching plans, with a specific curriculum of learning outcomes.
- Ensure that the coaching programmes for teams at all age groups follow best practice and are aligned with club values and are cognisant of the holistic development of the whole player, of player welfare and of appropriately framing the balance between development and competing.
- Review the Club Player Pathway, including athletic performance, skills development and transition to adult groups for all codes.
- Co-ordinate, promote & oversee the delivery of formal coaching courses & workshops within the club
- Manage & distribute coaching resources (coaching manuals, etc.) and promote coaching programmes run by Dublin GAA, Leinster GAA, the GAA nationally, the LGFA and The Camogie Association..
- Monitor & manage a club database of coaching qualifications.
- Assist in the identification, appointment, induction and mentoring of underage coaches
- Systematically engage with team coaches to provide support & guidance.
- Support club GPO coordinate and oversee the planning & delivery of all club camps
- Report to the club’s Executive committee and provide regular updates on agreed Coaching & Games KPIs.
- Organise an annual club coaching forum in the winter ‘off-season’
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Demonstrable passion for Gaelic Games and the values of the GAA
- Understanding of and appreciation for the ethos of Erin’s Isle GAA and the role that the club plays in the community.
- Ability to build rapport with players and coaches in all sections of the club
- An adaptive approach to problem-solving
- Excellent presentation and training-delivery skills.
- Strong appetite for continuous learning and development
- Ability to communicate feedback constructively.
- Ability to work independently on own initiative and perform as part of a team.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and a hands-on approach to getting things done
- Clear and detailed knowledge of all coaching schemes and initiatives within Gaelic games
Qualifications
- Award 2 GAA coaching qualification (minimum)
- Experience of coaching with juveniles and adults is essential.
- Garda vetted and Child Protection Course completed.
- A fluency in IT skills and ability to work across different platforms to provide information and training content for coaches
- A full, clean drivers’ licence and access to a car
